Support engineering study to determine the feasibility of sharing the 1675 - 1680 MHz band between existing Federal users, including NOAA, and commercial carriers operating terrestrial Advanced Wireless Systems (AWS) such as Long Term Evolution (LTE) cellular technology. Specify, design, model, simulate, integrate, test, configure, secure, deploy, train, and document mission enabling subsystem hardware to include compute, storage and network.
At least a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Math, or other related engineering field of study or comparable work experience.
Proficiency in all stages of the system engineering lifecycle. Need qualifications in modeling and simulation to support architecture trades and sell off requirements. Must understand probability theory and statistics, and how apply them for system reliability and capacity prediction. Must be proficient in a programming language (to develop the models/ simulations), either R-Programming or Python preferred. Experience with virtualization technologies, both on premise and cloud. Requires exceptional written skills, and the ability to clearly communicate highly technical concepts and choices to a management level audience. Must be able to support the development of trades, models, requirements derivation and design review milestone packages.
Experience in designing, configuring and securing network devices, to include data center and wide area assets. Experience with configuration management using Git. Experience with modern DevOPS practices (Ansible preferred) and the ability to template system deployment (CloudFormation).
Infrequent travel to customer or partner sites for design review preparation and execution (approximately once a quarter).
