Solers provides IT infrastructure and network security support (overall program) to the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Environmental Satellite Data and Information Service (NESDIS) to ensure systems are developed, deployed, updated and online, allowing NESDIS to fulfill its mission. Solers' team ensures the continuous delivery of a high-performance, scalable, and secure infrastructure platform, including several COTS solutions, and a Java-based Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) platform. Solers installs, tests, troubleshoots, maintains, and coordinates the use and proper operation of systems and environments; configures and manages all equipment and systems including hardware, software, and peripheral equipment; maintains user accounts and security policies on software and hardware-based routers and switches; coordinates with Information Security personnel to ensure systems and security plans are up to date on all system platforms; implements, documents, and coordinates policies, procedures, and standards; enforces security procedures.
Provide Linux/Windows/VM support to software developers and system engineers on both development and delivered production systems. Will create/modify/disable/maintain user/group accounts, monitor systems and logs, and troubleshoot system/OS issues when necessary. Incorporate vendor updates and install and configure Red Hat Linux, Windows 7, Windows workstations and servers. Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, switches, services, settings directories, storage, etc. Perform security monitoring/system scans to facilitate system hardening. Perform performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Successful candidate will quickly adapt and learn new technologies. Support the implementation of new requirements and bug fixes into COTS and other custom-developed infrastructure platforms. Responsibilities occasionally require working evenings or weekends.

Bachelors' degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field (experience may substitute for education)
